The Divers West Open Water Diver course consists of an Orientation Night and the following three main phases:
  • Knowledge Development- 2 classroom sessions to learn the theory
  • Confined Water Dives- 2 pool sessions to learn and practice your diving skills
  • Open Water Dives- 2 ocean days to complete your 4 open water dives. Here is where you apply what you've learned in the pool and have some fun!
We offer two class schedules each month, a week night schedule, and a weekend schedule.

Week night classes are on Monday and Wednesday nights from 7:30-11:30pm, for 4 evenings.

Weekend classes are all day Saturday and Sunday from 9:00am-5:00pm. During 1 weekend, class lessons are in the morning and pool sessions are in the afternoon on both days.

The ocean dives always take place on a Saturday and Sunday. Typically, Saturday is a beach dive from 7am to 12pm, and Sunday is an all day boat trip to Catalina Island boarding at 6am and returning to the harbor at 5:00pm. Depending on the time of year and availability, we may take the ferry to Casino Point Marine Park on Catalina Island or dive from an actual dive boat.

After you sign up, please stop by the shop to pick up your course materials.
