Javier, a former banker and financial adviser, decided 40 years ago he wanted to scuba dive when he asked an uncle's friend with scuba gear, "Can I borrow your tanks?" Not knowing what was involved, he was always drawn to the sea. Divers West is Javier's second dive shop. The first was Dolphin Dive Center in the warm waters of Loreto, Baja California, Mexico.
As a PADI Course Director, Randy will get you trained to become a Professional PADI Instructor! Randy is multilingual and speaks Chinese. In October of 2017, Randy was invited to China to help map out the recently discovered limestome caves.
Conrad, a PADI IDC Staff Instructor, has a popular following and is always ready to teach new and existing students. Conrad can certify you all the way to Assistant Instuctor and also certify you in a variety of Specialty Courses.
Nathan is an avid diver and a Master Scuba Diver Trainer that loves to teach. Nathan has a fun and energetic appoach to teaching that will keep you wanting to learn more. Nathan can certify you all the way to Dive Master as well as certify you in a variety of Specialty Courses.
Dave is well known for his love of underwater photography. He is an IDC Staff Instructor and can certify you all the way to Assistant Instructor. He can also teach a variety of PADI Specialty courses.
Alan, our Open Water Scuba Instructor is always ready to teach Open Water, Advanced Open Water, Rescue Diver and the Pro level DiveMaster courses. Alan will also be teaching swimming and Freediving soon, so stay tuned!
Ethan is a PADI IDC Staff Instructor that can certify student from Open Water all the way to Assistant Instructor. Ethan is also certified as an Adaptive Diving Instructor that can train disabled divers. Ethan has dived extensivingly in the South Pacific including the Phillipines and would love to share his adventures with you. You can also see him in the big tank at the Long Beach Aquariaum where he volunteers on Wednesdays.
Instroducing Holly, our social media expert and blogster! Holly is an Advanced Open Water diver, our dive ambassador, and happy to be your dive buddy on one of our many upcoming dive trips. When she is not blowing bubbles under the surface, she works at Jet Propulsion Laboratory as web editor and social media specialist for NASA's Global Climate Change website. She is also getting certified to be a life coach for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) women.
Our shop technician, is also a Captain and a working Dive Master on board the Pacific Star Dive Boat out of 22nd St Landing in San Pedro. If you happen to see a green Suzuki Samuri on the freeway, honk your horn and wave! It might be Jake going to work.
